Nareshwadi Learning Centre sits on an 11-acre campus near Dundhalwadi, Dahanu Taluka, about 130 km from Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the sole project of the Girivanvasi Educational Trust.   Five hundred children from underprivileged families attend Nareshwadi's schools and live on campus. Ninety percent of them come from the local Warli, Kokani, Katkari and Dodhi tribal communities. Many live in interior villages with no schooling available. The rest are children with single or absent parents, or are from HIV-infected and -affected families.

The learning centre made a list of things they need for the further improvement of the centre. Improvement of the dining hall has top priority at the moment. They need to build a new cooking area and they need a new potable water pipeline and storage tank. They also need Rugs (shatranjis) and Blankets (chaddars) to provide warm and hygenic bedding for the children.

A great idea!!! Why don’t you gift stuff made by mentally challenged kids and young adults to friends or as a give away at a birthday party?

Today I came across a great NGO, Kshitij. It’s a self help group for developmentally handicapped adults. They make really nice presents for all kinds of occassions.   Instead of buying give away presents for birthday parties in the usual shops, consider gifting a more original customized present made by mentally challenged kids and young adults.   You can contact the organisation at 5628 995 or 2382 1126.

To aim of the GiftYourStuff website is to make it easier for people to donate used goods to charity. Below I’ve listed the top eight reasons to donate your used goods to a cause which is close to your heart.

If you want to do something nice today, check out this website: www.doonenicething.com. It’s a very inspiring website. I looked for some ideas regarding donating stuff and this is what I found: 
Don't throw away the old clothes or books in your home. Rather donate them to a nearby orphange. This would be a nice gesture on your part. - Zeba
Here's something nice to do. Call or check out a local charity's website and look for a wishlist of "in-kind" donations. Then, do a Double Day" the next time you shop. Buy two of everything...two tubes of toothpaste on sale, two hair brushes, two bottles of shampoo and etc. Donate the extra one to the charity that needs it. - Linda Watters
If you have an old computer that still works, take it to an elderly person. Teach him/her how to operate it to send and receive email. Give them a connection to the world. What a great way to keep them connected to their family and friends who are probably online too. Charity event Chip Mumbai

CHiP (supporting CHildren in Pain) works with children in BMC schools in the Northern Mumbai suburbs. Since inception in 2004, CHIP has been working with a belief in 'Total Child Care.' Total child care translates into CHIP's commitment to developing the whole child, working especially in the areas of education and health, laying the foundation to a  successful life.

This is a message from the coordinator:
We're holding a charity event this upcoming Friday, March 20th, at Yuvanesse Clinic in Juhu. Yuvanesse is a new anti-aging/skin care clinic that has partnered with CHiP for this special event. There will be drinks, free food, complimentary hand&foot massages, as well as a raffle game (prizes include vouchers for spa treatments, gift certificates from upscale restaurants, designer handbags, and even hotel accomodations for a 3 day/2 night stay in Bangkok!) There will also be numerous other ways to donate to CHiP's schools at this event, and we're hoping to get all the support we can! This is an open event, so feel free to come all night (7:30pm onwards) or just drop by for a bit if you already have prior commitments..
